Sky Blues Mini-Soccer Centre Returns

I am delighted to announce that our 2nd season of Mini-Soccer Centre, sponsored by Ronan Valley Golf Course, will kick off on Saturday 1st March at 10am. After a tremendously successful 1st season last year we expect the centre to come back with a bang. The Winter period has gone in quite quickly and it seems only a blink since we finished in late October.

We got some great feedback after our first season and we hope you will find the centre equally enjoyable this year. A years experience has helped us too plan everything in advance this year and I am delighted to enclose dates for the centre for term one and term two.

With over 100 kids attending each week last year we were over-whelmed with the success and anticipate a high response again. We have enclosed a registration form on the back page so please complete it and bring it with you on the first morning.

A lot has changed since we started our first season in March 2007. Since then ‘Spires Park’ has been born and we hope to have some more improvements completed before the new term begins.

Some significant key performance indicators are outlined below. These are solely based on activities we have carried out to date at Spires Park last year.

• Coached over 2500 children in our Mini-Soccer sessions
• Held one IFA Summer Football week for 80 children
• Held a South Derry Mini-Soccer tournament for 200 children
• Held the recent McDonalds Festival for 3 primary schools attended by 140 children and Pat Jennings
• Enabled our club to create Under 11 and Under 13 teams for the first time in our history
• Created Spires Park

Mini-Soccer Centre Information
Our Mini-Soccer Centre is IFA approved. All our coaches are trained on the IFA Mini-Soccer Coaching award. We also have received training from the IFA on Child Protection Policy. Our mini-soccer centre is a place to provide children a fun and safe place to make friends and play football. We have created our own Child Protection Policy (available on request) and Code of Conduct for parents, players (included in this document) and coaches (available on request).

What do they need to wear?
Children MUST come each week wearing football boots and shin guards. We would also ask parents to send along a bottle of water but this is not essential as water bottles will be available.

Mini-soccer kits sponsored by Ronan Valley
Magherafelt Sky Blues Mini-Soccer kits sponsored by Ronan Valley Golf Course are available from Sportique in Broad Street, Magherafelt. Children do not need to purchase these but we have made them available following requests from parents last season.

How much does it cost?
It costs £1.50 each week. We have a one off membership fee of £3.50 which can be paid at anytime over the first 4 weeks. This gets children a Sky Blues Membership card, free access for the child to all Sky Blue adult matches including Summer friendlies and 10% of all Umbro clothing in Sportique.

Where does it take place?
It takes place at our Spires Park football pitch located opposite Greenvale Leisure Centre.
Who can attend?
Both boys and girls in classes P4 to P7 are welcome to attend.
