Welcome to Magherafelt Sky Blues Football Club
Magherafelt Sky Blues Football Club is situated in the town of Magherafelt, Northern Ireland.
Mission statement
Magherafelt Sky Blues Football Club is committed to encourage and develop young footballers in an enjoyable and safe environment
Background
The impetus behind the creation of Magherafelt Sky Blues Football Club was borne through the desire of a number of local football enthusiasts to start up a mixed religion football team and the club was formed in 1970. It took the ‘Sky Blues’ aspect of the clubs name from Coventry City.
The club took control of the football pitch located in the centre of the town nicknamed ‘Stoney Park’ in 2007. The club renamed the pitch ‘Spires Park’.
From the outset it was agreed that the basis of the Club would be firmly enshrined in the Constitution backed up with a proactive Child Protection Policy. Central to the ethos of the Club was a strong emphasis on cross community participation.
Our Mission
We are a community club and strive to bring all communities together by using football as the common platform to create long term friends.
Our Vision
To provide all aspiring football players in South Derry and surrounding areas with a welcoming, enjoyable and challenging environment to learn and develop their skills. We also aim to be the best Intermediate Club in Northern Ireland.
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to create a sustainable club structure which will ensure Magherafelt Sky Blues remain the focal point for football within South Derry. We aim to make our club the club of choice for all aspiring players.
Our People
The people within our club aim to develop the individual footballing and team-working skills of players through coaching and participation in competitive games. We will create a safe environment which has no forms of discrimination. We aim to make football fun through our core values of honesty, integrity, trust, and teamwork.
